Here are a few pictures from the Capitol on April 8, where we showed In Transition 2.0. (Thanks to Barbara Li for sharing her photos of the event!) Before the screening, attendees enjoyed pupus and visited info tables from participating organizations. After the screening we had a panel discussion. Thanks all for turning out! It was well attended and people responded enthusiastically to the projects showcased before, during, and after the film. We are pleased to screen In Transition 2.0, a film highlighting inspiring stories from Transition initiatives around the world. Please join us at the Hawai‘i State Capitol Auditorium (415 S. Beretania St., Honolulu, HI - take elevator down one floor) on Tuesday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. We'll start with pupus, show the film at 6 (it's just over an hour), and finish with a panel Q&A highlighting local projects. Hear brief remarks from Senator Mike Gabbard, Chair, Energy & Environment Committee; Jacqueline Kozak Thiel, State Sustainability Director; Matt Lynch, Asia Pacific Center of Regenerative Design & Permablitz; Dave Atcheson, Transition Oahu; Sarah Marie Leone, Oahu Timebank; and Mindy Jaffe, Waikiki Worm Company. For complete details -- including info on inviting your legislators: see the event web page » David Johnson, Transition PDX Thanks to all who attended Sunday's Transition event in Waimanalo at Olomana Gardens. We began with a tour of the site by our host Glenn Martinez followed by a delicious potluck lunch. Then our special guest David Johnson from Transition US and Transition PDX (Portland, OR) gave a talk on the origins of the Transition movement and offered insights on the variety of ways that Transition initiatives can gather momentum. Thanks so much to both David and Glenn! Next up a free permaculture movie on May 17. Whidbey Island in Washington State is just over 1/4 the size of Oahu in area and much smaller in population. But this video on their Transition initiative has many ideas to offer as we implement transition here. |
