Transition Oahu

Building community resilience on Oahu in the face of peak oil, climate change, and other challenges. Join us! More...

About Transition Oahu

Picture
_Transition Oahu is part of a worldwide movement of communities that realize we must start working together to build resilient communities able to withstand severe shocks.  These shocks may come from diminishing petroleum supplies and sharply higher costs (peak oil), climate change as manifested in severe weather anomalies, and economic shocks from these and other causes.  While adapting now, ahead of these shocks, we will be creating a better quality of life for all in the process.

Re-localization of our economy and food production is central to the Transition plan.  Our initial activities include classes and film screenings.  Films have been about food issues, climate change, 'peak oil' and other issues that concern us all.  Classes have included subjects like organic gardening, Permaculture, sprouting and aquaponics. More variety to come, especially if you will join us with your ideas, inputs and skills! Transition is fun and engaging, but is not a spectator sport.  Come help us plan the future we would like to live in on Oahu.
