Volunteer Opportunities

ShareFest is a 100% volunteer-powered event. We may have the perfect volunteer role for you! Please contact us if you able to help in any of these ways.
Before the Event
  • Help create signage to direct people to the event including a ShareFest banner at the main site entrance.
  • Post ShareFest flyers.
  • Make signs for selected booths, e.g., Book / Toy / Game Swap;  Keiki Crafts (may depend on the specific crafts).

Transportation Roles
  • Help transport materials to ShareFest site at UH Manoa (canopies, starter materials for the swap tables, etc.).
  • After the event, take any remaining swap items to Friends of the Library and Goodwill.

Event Setup and Takedown
  • Place signage on campus directing people to ShareFest (need to research UH regulations).
  • Assist with setup between 9 a.m. and the 11 a.m. event start time.
  • Assist with event takedown approximately 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (folding canopies, site cleanup, etc.)

During the Event
  • Monitor waste, compost, and recycling -- change bags, let people know what goes where, etc.
  • Help monitor bathroom facilities (DIY janitorial to keep event expenses down).
  • General volunteer to identify any issues and serve as a liaison to event coordinators.
  • Take photos and video for event reports and a ShareFest video.
  • Help staff the Transition Oahu / Welcome booth.

Booth/Activity Champions and Helpers
  • Potluck monitors: designate sections for various food types, cover food as needed, change ice in trays for items needing refrigeration, etc.)
  • Help at Keiki Crafts station; seeking a lead volunteer for this activity.
  • Help at the Swap Tables: tell people about the swap guidelines, monitor exchanges, keep books, toys, and games organized.
