GreenBusinessOwner.com is produced by Scott Cooney, 3-time eco-entrepreneur, author, and the developer of the sustainability board game GBO Hawai’i. Scott is a sustainability Professor at the University of Hawai’i's Shidler College of Business where he teaches UH’s first sustainability curriculum for the MBA program. Scott conducts economic development workshops for municipalities and is the Principal of the GBO Group, a sustainability strategy advisory and business development firm based in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
GBO Hawai’i is the first sustainability themed board game for a mass market audience. Through private sector investment in sustainable businesses, (a field known as impact investing), players are able to help the state of Hawai’i meet its sustainability goals, reducing fossil fuel consumption, advancing the local and organic food movement, and reducing waste generation.
GBO Hawaii is kind of like a green Monopoly--you're an investor and you're looking to make money, but at the same time, you're also looking to have a positive impact: you invest in sustainable businesses in the game like carsharing services, geothermal plants, wind farms, and farmers' markets. In doing so, you help create green collar jobs and help the state of Hawaii become energy independent, grow more of its own food, and produce less waste! The best triple
bottom line return on investment wins!
